REW<< originally hails from the snowy western shores of Lake Michigan. Some days he can be found roaming subterranean tunnels under the American Capital, others basking in So. Cal. sun. REW<< has itself been the vehicle for a number of styles and sounds, with visions experimental and ambitious.
On Isostatic REW<< explores the third offering of his poetic devices’ instruments, which he designed and recorded and is offering in conjunction with the album release. The works are still centered largely around the deep sampled “Ragged Moon Piano”, from the onomatopoeia series, (a piano which itself was abandoned in his childhood home by former tenants), but joined now by the digital representations of the instruments Weber acquired on some of his many travels; A sitar lugged back from Sri Lanka after climbing Sri Pada through the night, and a charango from near Cuzco that Weber lugged around in a backpack for several months while traveling through South America in the mid-90s as a teenager are among the menagerie of sounds. Aside from the piano which anchors the works to a fixed point, all of REW<<‘s "devices" or deep sampled instruments, both new and old are on display floating in and out adding depth and intimacy.
